18 and Tattoos…

I will be turning 18 on February 2. My older sister who is 24 and married J said that on my 18th birthday she was going to take me to get a tattoo and one for herself. Now this was talked about when I was about 15 and I didn't give it a second thought. Until recently this topic was never brought up again… but now that my birthday is so close; I have been praying and thinking about it a lot. I had done a little research on a biblical stand point. I found a lot but all of them were bringing up Leviticus 19: 28 28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.” I wanted to do a little more to see if I saw anything other than this verse. I found this lovely lady who wrote a little about tattoos (The lovely lady's website :)). She brought up Leviticus 19:28 but from a different point of view. She said “If you judge tattoos by this verse than you have to read the surrounding text too.” What she meant by that was that this verse in the bible was the Lord telling people who believed this as worship to false gods to not do it as worship to false gods. She also had a few questions for people to think about before getting a tattoo. I liked all of the questions, but one really got me thinking. The question said “Would your future spouse want you to have this tattoo?” now to fully understand why this question got me thinking is this; my mom and I (before my research) were talking about this subject (tattoos) and she said to me “Michaela, you really have to think about this. Your sister is married and her husband is okay with her getting a tattoo. Would your future husband want you to have a tattoo?” Now if that wasn't God telling me something than I don’t know what is. That hit home for me. I mean if I got a tattoo it would not be out of rebellion and the tattoo my sister showed me is really cool, but I am going to wait.

What I want to tell y’all is that it really ends up being something between you and God. No one can make that decision for you. Consider everything before you choose because it is permanent.

Please keep this all in mind when/if you get a tattoo. Of course do some praying before you decide.  :)
Love y'all! Thanks for reading my blog! God bless you!

Kids? Where are you?

I was talking to my little 11 year old brother about how school was. He starts telling me about his teachers, and then he goes into his friends and their conversations. (He goes to public school) He tells me about a boy that is 12 and bragging about the fact that he can watch porn… PORN! At 12 years old! I didn't even know what the word porn even meant until 2 years ago! He also told me about a 10 year old girl wanting to have sex with a boy (also 10 years old) because she wants to have experience for when she gets older. She is 10! When I was 10 (only 7 years ago) I played on my jump rope and ran away from boys because
“They have cooties!”  Not to mention he also saw a girl that is in middle school and pregnant! In middle school!
I’m sorry if I sound a little harsh but this does not make me happy. We are talking kids! Middle school! Be a kid while you still can!
I guess my point of writing this is that (other than for me to vent a little on this subject) if you can do anything for any young person to lead them away from that kind of stuff. Please do! It’s up to us to turn this next generation around! Don’t let this generation die! I will do everything in my power (with God’s help of course) to make this generation strong! I need help from you! Will you help this change?

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Proverbs 22:6
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

The One?

I have been thinking lately about... The One. You know, The One we are destine to be with. Well I don't really believe that. It's not a biblical principle, is it? I'm unsure of that. I do believe that God gives us all guide lines to follow when we choose a man. I'll explain. We don't go marry a man that is crazy nut ball guy and expect him to change or to be The One. We need to follow guide lines; that's why they are there. We have to spend time with God to find out what these guide lines are. If you follow the guide lines God gives you and marry someone who follows those as well then God will bless your marriage and God will make that man your One . I'm not saying that you will have a perfect marriage with no problems but it will be a lot easy then someone who did not follow those guide lines. Even if you didn't follow those guide lines but you and your husband repent and change then God can work in your marriage.

This is just my thoughts. I am not a marriage counselor or anything. I am not married of course because I am only seventeen but I do believe what I said is true. I believe my God can do the impossible! Even in a marriage!

A big thank you from the south!

We can't thank the veterans enough for what they do or have done for our country! So THANK YOU VETERANS for what you do for this beautiful country! Happy memorial day! God bless America!
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
P.S. I know this is a little late but better late than never. Right?

Dating and Friendship

I have never been big on dating mostly because I believe that we should date when we are ready to marry but that's my opinion. I am big on friendship! Friends are great and they come in all shapes and sizes. Maybe you dog is your best friend? I love friends because they are there for you, and you for them. :) Guys friends are great too! There is no drama with them.

Have you ever liked a guy/girl but didn't want to just ask them out? Well try just being friends with them. You may end up having nothing in common and then it ends up very awkward. :/ One of my favorite authors said  "Friendship is the beginning of intimacy; without it our desire for true intimacy will not be experienced."
Friendship is a great place to start! :)

Mary moment!

We get to comfortable in our boxes that we won't step out and do something.

God used teens for his glory. The teen we hear about a lot is Mary.

I am going to give you a brief history lesson... in Mary's time a woman as young as Mary could get stoned for being pregnant and not wed, unless she was a prostitute (and Mary was not) even then the prostitutes were considered unclean and lived on the outskirts of town.

Mary risk everything for God. I think Mary is pretty beast (as in awesome) because she didn't tell God she would think about it, No, she told him "yes" right on the spot. You may be comfortable in your box, but God may be telling you to take some risks for him.

Will you step out of your box for him?

Challenge!

I have challenge for y'all! Every time you feel bad or you look in the mirror and don't like what you see write down something in your journal (it is great to have a journal) about yourself that is uplifting. In mine I wrote at the very top of the page "I am..." and then began to scatter everything I wrote. My pastor once said "One of Jesus names is 'I am' so if we say "I am ugly" then we are using Jesus name to put our selves down while we are putting Jesus down." I thought that was cool. So try this!

Beauty on the inside!

We all want to be even more beautiful on the outside; but is that where we need to start? As my favorite verse Proverbs 31:30 says "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." The word fear in this verse means reverential awe toward the Lord. Beauty starts on the inside. Beauty starts by being kind or telling the truth. Your beauty on the inside will spill over to the outside, and make you beautiful on both sides.

Make a difference!

The smallest thing can brighten someones day. I always tell my little brother to open the door for as many women as he can because it will make her day a whole lot brighter to have a boy open the door for her. You could change someones life by doing or saying the smallest things like smiling and saying "Have a blessed day." or "God bless you.", these little things can make a difference.
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

I was having a hard time finding a picture for this post but I
decided to pick a picture of mine because I want to make a
difference with my photography.

Giving In Perspective

November is about giving thanks to God for what we have but December is about giving what we have to God like our time, our talent, and our money. God gave it all to us so why not give some of it back to him. This December think of some stuff you can give back to God and give it to him on Christmas. John 10:14-15 “I am the shepherd who cares for the sheep. I know my sheep just as the Father knows me. And my sheep know me just as I know the Father. I give my life for these sheep.
The real reason for Christmas.
Have a very merry Christmas!
