Giving In Perspective

November is about giving thanks to God for what we have but December is about giving what we have to God like our time, our talent, and our money. God gave it all to us so why not give some of it back to him. This December think of some stuff you can give back to God and give it to him on Christmas. John 10:14-15 “I am the shepherd who cares for the sheep. I know my sheep just as the Father knows me. And my sheep know me just as I know the Father. I give my life for these sheep.
The real reason for Christmas.
Have a very merry Christmas!

What is True Love?

What is True Love? A lot people think that love or True Love is fall in love with someone, getting married, and having kids; but that's not True Love. True Love is giving of yourself for someone else. Jesus gave himself for us because he Truly Loved us. I heard a story about a man who gave himself so his daughter could be taken in an orphanage and cared for because the orphanage would not take her because her father was still alive. Jesus was thinking the same thing when he hung on the cross he was thinking that if he died we would be saved and cared for by the holy spirit. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay his life down for his friends. Do you Truly Love?
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Temptation

Have you ever been tempted to do something just because your friends are doing it? I know I have. Jesus went though temptation when Satan was tempting Jesus in the desert and he stayed strong. Next time you are tempted to do what your friends do talk to Jesus or a trusted adult and do the opposite be the influence to them tell them to get ice cream instead of doings drugs, you will feel silly doing it but God will reward you for doing what is right.

Matthew 4:1-4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Promises, can you keep yours?

How many promises have you made and never kept? Maybe one like "Mom, I promise I'll clean my room when I get back." We don't always keep our promises and we should, promises are a big thing, they aren't something to take lightly. God keep his promises to us no matter what. Don't make a promise you can't keep.

Joshua 21:45 Not one of all the Lord's good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Thankfulness in perspective

We take a lot of stuff for granted #1 being alive. We never think about all the stuff to be thankful for like life, phones, homes, friends, computers, and  freedom. These are some of the things we take for granted. I challenge you though the month of November to write down one thing everyday that you take for granted and thank God for them all on thanksgiving and after too.
Rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7

Where is your focus?

Jesus wants us to just focus our eyes on him because when we take our focus off him we begin to be afraid and doubt him. Peter wanted Jesus and trusted him but when he saw the storm he took his eyes off Jesus and sank. We need to trust Jesus and keep our eyes on him.
Matthew 14:25-31 25 During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." 28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." 29 "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

How far will you go for God?

I don't know if you know the story of shadrach, mesach, and abednego but I'm going to tell a short version.
Well these three guys shadrach, mesach, and abednego were Christians and worked for this rich dude named nebuchadnezzar (try saying that ten times fast) who was not a christian, anyway nebuchadnezzar wanted everyone to bow and believe in false gods and the three guys shadrach, mesach, and abednego were like "No dude we got one God and that's Jesus we aren't bowing to your gods." so they got in trouble and were thrown in the furnace but the cool part of this story is God sent an angel with them in the furnace and they came out without even the smell of fire on them. My point of telling you this story is that these guys risked their lives for God and whats right instead of taking the easy way out just because everyone else was. Maybe God is telling you to do what is right and walk into that furnace (not literally) and you don't know but God has an angel waiting to protect you in there. How far will you go?

This story is found in Daniel 3

Freedom isn't free.

Our troops go to war thinking Will I die today? What about my family back home?. They risk their lives so we can be free. I can't thank them enough for what they do for our country; it's because of them I can freely write this blog about God, so thank you veterans for putting your lives on the line so I can be free! John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
